If these walls could speak

Featuring a truly spectacular sundial found on a wall of the church of King Charles The Martyr, the oldest permanent building in Tunbridge Wells, we present ‘If these walls could speak’.

With its own origins disputed, albeit widely acknowledged to be in the 18th Century, this enigmatic solar timepiece also contains a mysterious inscription by Alex Rae, believed to be a reference to Shakespeare’s Richard II. Aside from its obvious beauty which made it a ‘must have’ for our ‘Slice Of Life 2014’ collection, we were intrigued by the history that has passed as this sundial has faithfully told the time over the years. And what secrets the walls inside and outside this striking building have borne witness too.

The design makes clever use of perspective to create a powerful impact which then draws you in to appreciate the considerable detail contained within.

Signed by the artists and back mounted on archival quality mountboard, this one-off A3 black on white papercut is framed in a black, solid wood, custom made box frame.
