Celebrating one of the most iconic and historic buildings, Thackeray’s House is a past lodging house patronised by renowned author William Makepeace Thackeray and is now widely known for being one of the best restaurants in Tunbridge Wells. The beautiful construction of the front of the building lends itself to truly tasty unique work of papercut art and it was a big hit in our ‘Slice Of Life 2014’ exhibition.

We knew from the outset that this needed to be one of our ‘white on black’ works and spent a long time devising how to incorporate original verse into the design. Thankfully the sizeable tree to the left of Thackeray’s House came to the rescue, allowing us space to incorporate one of our longest poems to date. The natural beauty of the building is accentuated in this one-off by the use of a fully floating frame, which causes the papercut to seemingly float above the background.

Signed by the artists and float mounted over archival quality mountboard, this intricate one-off A3 white on black papercut is framed in a black, solid wood custom-made box frame.
