Sunset Murmurations

Brighton is one of our favourite places, combining many of the things that we love most and which provide a huge amount of inspiration for our papercut designs.

The old West Pier, left to rot after closing in 1975 and then ravaged by two fires is an iconic landmark. No more so than on a winter’s day at dusk when thousands of starlings join together in the sky above the pier, swooping and swirling for twenty minutes before roosting underneath the pier – their collective body heat keeping the group warm overnight.

‘Sunset Murmurations’ is an original hand cut design that captures the twisted metal and ravaged beauty of the derelict West Pier.  The papercut is mounted on an original pastel painting of Brighton at dusk, featuring a murmuration of hand painted starlings just before the sun goes down and they roost for the night.

Signed by the artists, this one-off, mixed media original is back mounted on an original pastel painting and framed in a black, solid wood custom-made box frame.
